Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross is a fun fantasy adventure. In it, we are tossed into a uniquely built world. With a WWI-like backdrop, we come to engage with a paradigm of magic, gods, and goddesses.
We follow the journey of two Journalists: Iris and Kit. The two are competing to become lead journalists and are covering the state of the War between two dueling gods.
Overall, this was a fun book. My wife adored it. I found it somewhat predictable and silly. I would consider this the first book I’ve reviewed in which I wasn’t a huge fan. It was good, don’t get me wrong, but not quite for me.
Things I Liked About This Book
World building
Ross does a good job at imagining up a very uniquely themed fantasy world. It was fun to learn the laws and dynamics of this world throughout the novel without being specifically instructed on it.
